Overview of Role & Company Information

UK’s largest manufacturer and supplier of precast concrete solutions. With a turnover approaching £200m, whom employ 1500 people across 12 UK based facilities. This forward-thinking company who heavily invest in both technology and their employees are looking for 2 CAD Technician whom they can train in the latest RC Concrete 3D software - Tekla.

They are currently looking for 2 CAD Technicians with RC Concrete experience to work in their Derby based facility.

They are looking for CAD Technicians who can produce AutoCAD General Arrangement and Reinforced Concrete details (pre-cast experience is not required). 3D experience is not required full training will be provided in the use of BIM software Tekla, Autocad experience is fine. They are looking for keen hard working detailers with good computer skills and interested in training in the latest 3D RC Detailing software.

Purpose of Role

As a member of the Technical Department, the role is involved with the design and detailing of a range of precast concrete products, generally associated with civil engineering projects. The team includes Engineers and Technicians, and activities are based around specific projects or standard product ranges.

The Technical Department engages with all divisions of the company, providing technical and structural input in support of existing products and new product development.

The role reports into Chief Engineer of Precast.

The position is based permanently from Weston Underwood, Derbyshire

Salary

£25,000 - 34,000 + Pension

Role Accountabilities & Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake CAD drawing and detailing associated with the manufacturing of precast products
  • Producing Autocad General Arrangement and Reinforced Concrete details, with associatedreinforcement scheduling for projects.
  • Produce schedules for procurement and or manufacturing
  • Liaising With Internal and External Clients, Contractors and Consultants.
  • Ensuring work output conforms to specifications and Standard/Code requirements
  • Maintaining project records
  • Liaising with the Factory Production Teams
  • Assist with drawing queries from estimating & commercial staff on technical matters
  • regarding product use and manufacture
  • Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to the job.
  • Carry out any other reasonable request made by line manager to support departmental or
  • company objective

Person Profile

Looking for CAD Technicians with strong computer skills with at least 2 years’ experience, must have RC Concrete detailing experience.

Essential

  • Experience in AutoCAD
  • Good computer skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office in particular Excel
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, but understand level of responsibility within the team
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of people including clients, contractors & consultants
  • Ability to prioritise work and manage a number of tasks concurrently
  • Be highly motivated
  • Hold a valid driving licence
  • English & Maths equivalent to Grade C or above

Desirable

  • Involved with reinforced concrete design in a civil engineering environment
  • Specific Autocad qualification
  • Knowledge of Civil Engineering products (eg Drainage pipes/manhole/shafts/cover slabs)
  • Previous experience of working in Precast Concrete manufacturing environment
  • ONC/HNC/BTEC in civil engineering or construction related subject.
  • Experience in Reinforced Concrete detailing
  • Experience in a BIM software package (Tekla or Revit)
  • Knowledge of Eurocodes
  • Willingness to continue personal development
