- I am looking for a Senior Structural Engineer for the market leader in the design and build of Hybrid offsite engineered structures whom principally use precast concrete and also Insitu concrete and structural steelwork.
This forward think innovative company turnover in excess of £40m, employ over 120 people, owner managedand been in business nearly 50 years. Their Complete design & build multi-storey structural frame solutions for projects use the latest BIM technology and offsite manufacturing processes Dfma. They have received a wide range of prestigious including being a regular award winner at the Offsite Construction & Precast awards for the design and build of offsite Hybrid engineered structuresup to 25 storeys high.
A great opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer has opened up in their in-house Design team, based at their Head Office in Tamworth. This role would suit a Structural Engineer looking for the next step up of a seasoned Senior Structural Engineer ready to be number 2 in the Design Team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer reporting to the Chief Engineer assist in mentoring engineers, graduates and technicians.
Duties & Accountabilities
Contract Engineering Requirements,
- Comprising preparation of structural calculations, design sketches, specifications for elements, connections, stability, robustness, lifting, temporary works etc.
- Briefing technicians and monitoring production of structural drawings performing engineering checks on completed drawings
- performing engineering checks on suppliers' drawings and designs (hollowcore, double-tees, delta beams etc.
- responding to manufacturing queries, site queries and resolving construction issues
Support Of Sales And Estimating Division, Comprising
- Initial feasibility schemes for individual contracts in conjunction with Estimating Department.
- Tender design solutions including scheme designs, initial engineering analysis for stability and robustness along with elemental designs
- Engagement with the supply chain to assist in pricing
- Production of design drawings/sketches, scheme mark-ups as appropriate to convey design intent
Support Of 'in-house' Design Office, Comprising
- Assisting in the proficient handover of contracts from Estimating Department including all necessary technical analysis and calculations undertaken at the tender stage.
- Structural Engineering Design including the provision of design calculations, construction details and specifications for projects undertaken by 'in-house' designers.
- Checking the validity of engineering solutions offered by Consultants and subcontractors.
- Participate in and support value engineering exercises arranged and attended by relevant team members
- Development of the standardisation of precast concrete systems
- Develop standard design procedures to promote efficiencies in design
- Design development of existing and new precast concrete products and systems.
- Development of robust health & safety procedures for design, manufacture, transportation, erection and temporary stability
- Assist in the development and mentoring of engineers and technicians
Requirements For The Role
- Professional Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering qualification
- Extensive structural engineering design experienced gained across multiple sectors, which ideally includes pre-cast concrete or will except engineers with RC frame design experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in a structural design engineer role.
- Significant reinforced concrete design and detailing experience essential.
- Structural finite element model experience required.
- Able to design using first principals
- Good sound knowledge of Microsoft Office
- You will either be Chartered Engineer or nearing chartered status with (CEng) or MIStructE accreditation
- You will have experience of mentoring and training others
- Ability to lead and manage their own projects – will have Project Management experience

- Contract: Permanent, Full time

- £45 – 55,000 – (potential for more if person has multi-storey precast structure experience )
