Description
National Design & Build M&E Contractor require a BIM Operations Manager to be responsible for BIM within their Northern Division (Midlands, North and Scotland) whose turnover c£60m working on a wide mix of public and private projects.  Reporting to the Digital Engineering Director you will have 12 direct reports, made up of BIM Coordinators, BIM Managers & Modellers
 
BIM Operations Manager will be responsible for BIM on live projects & bids within the Northern business unit.  The role is 80% project 20% strategic supporting the development of BIM within the whole business.
 
You will be responsible functionally for BIM in the business area-  you will set up contracts, advise (clients, supply chain, & internally), train, enable the site teams.
 
This design lead MEP provider specialised in the design and installation of building services and infrastructure solutions, wholly owned by one of the countries most respected national building contractors with a turnover of £1.5bn.
 
This company deliver bespoke, design-led cost-efficient solutions by maximising off-site manufacture in their state of art industry leading offsite production facility realising lean construction benefits – less waste, higher quality, safety benefits, cost savings and predictability of build.
 
Key Accountabilities will include:
  • Work closely with the Project Team and Regional Engineering Manager to provide advice on BIM co-ordination and design for manufacture during concept and design development stages.
  • Responsible for BIM across all projects in the Northern Region, ensuring client Information Requirements (IR) are being delivered and implementation of BS1192 workflows.
  • Interface with internal design team to provide advice during concept and technical design stages on potential for offsite manufacture, general coordination and buildability
  • Once the Scope / Price / Programme is agreed, develop with the Project Manager the BIM co-ordination / drawing programme and schedules to incorporate resource levels and key issue dates into an integrated programme
  • On modularised, pre-fabricated projects liaise with the industrial facility and the Project Team to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of BIM documentation to ensure alignment with business policy and industry standards.
  • Support the design and delivery of project specific BIM plans during the work winning phase and through the life of each project.
  • Carry out reviews of supply chain to assess their competence.
  • Support project teams to ensure the successful implementation of processes and tools.
  • Participate in staff training to raise BIM awareness and competence across the business.
  • Keep abreast of the latest tools and technologies available in the market to ensure the BIM strategy is market leading and deliverable.
  • Measure, monitor and report progress against agreed targets and KPI’s.
 
Candidate:
  • Seeking confident, diligent professional MEP BIM Lead well versed in BIM Level 2
  • Experience working in a BIM Level 2 environment
  • Seeks BIM professional with extensive design lead MEP experience
  • Solid knowledge of MEP offsite manufacturing and understanding of Operations as packages of work and methods of installation.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to be a key influencer who is able to deliver and change behaviours when required.

  • Candidate will combine a collaborative and professional attitude with proven BIM acumen, a thorough approach to quality control and a zest for sharing best practice with like-minded people
