Looking for a Physical Security Manager to work for the client organisation on the High Speed Two programme responsible for ensuring & assuring that the physical security designs and the physical security-built assets across the entire 140miles of HS2 (except the stations) are per the contract & regulatory requirements.

The Opportunity

Join HS2, one of the UK’s largest and most complex infrastructure programmes, as a Physical Security Manager — ensuring world-class protection and resilience across the 140-mile high-speed rail route.

This is a pivotal security assurance role, overseeing the design and delivery of physical security systems for operational HS2 assets — including tunnels, viaducts, bridges, shafts, control rooms, depots, and other critical infrastructure (excluding stations).

You’ll be part of the team responsible for ensuring that all physical security measures — from CCTV and access control to alarms, blast resistance, and intrusion detection etc — are designed, implemented, and assured to meet the standards and regulatory requirements.

The Role

Reporting to a Senior Security Manager, you’ll work route wide, collaborating with civils and rail systems contractors to ensure compliance and where necessary the confidence to challenge their designs & built assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of HMG Security Policy Framework and guidelines, reviewing designs and advising on best practice.
  • Liaise with stakeholders such as Police Counter Terrorism Security Advisers (CTSAs) and Designing Out Crime Officers (DOCOs).
  • Present security design justifications to the HS2 Security Steering and Design Panels.
  • Provide security input to the HS2 Project Hazard Record, analysing threats and ensuring compliance.
  • Support senior security leadership in maintaining strategic relationships with DfT Land Security, CPNI, and British Transport Police (BTP).
  • Ensure all physical security design and implementation is fully compliant with UK legislation and HS2 standards.

Career Path & Development

With HS2’s programme extending into the 2034, you’ll benefit from outstanding long-term career progression — with a structured path to Senior Security Manager (£80k–£86k) and beyond.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in physical security assurance or advisory roles.
  • Familiarity with national security frameworks and design standards.
