Are you an Acoustic Engineer / Consultant and interested in working on Europe’s largest infrastructure project HS2, shaping Noise Policy Agenda across the Construction & infrastructure for future projects in the UK?
An Acoustic Specialist is required to work for the Client Organisation (High Speed Two Ltd) responsible for the New High-Speed Rail project in the UK. The role sits within a dedicated Noise Assessment Team at High Speed Two part of the environment department who ensure HS2 meets all its commitments and obligations relating to Environmental impacts caused by Noise & Vibration.
Job Purpose
This is a key role within Hs2 providing specialist technical support on noise across the project. You will work in collaboration with the supply chain as well as HS2 colleagues to ensure project commitments relating to noise and vibration are delivered and timescales are met with value for money at the forefront of all decisions. The role will include working with a wide range of stakeholders including contractors, government decision and policy makers (LA / DFT) and those impacted by the project.

Work Situation – Hybrid
The office location is Birmingham Snowhill or London Euston (your choice) they operate a flexible hybrid working model with plans to be working 1-2 days a week from the office. Birmingham £50 – 52,152.00 + Pen (6:12) + health + 25 days (Potentially up to £54,350)
London £54 – 56,465 + Pen (6:12) + health + 25 days (Potentially up to £59,288)
Duties & Responsibilities

Support the Head of Noise Assessment in implementation of environmental noise requirements and support the development of procedures and processes as appropriate to ensure environmental noise requirements are clearly defined and well understood.

Provide technical assessment review for the hybrid bills and associated tasks, including Environment Statements, Petitioner responses and Parliamentary Queries.

Work with Phase One in providing support and specialist noise and vibration expertise.

Participate in the Environment team’s wider objectives and work closely with them to achieve noise objectives.

Provide technical assessment and review to assure that deliverables meet the project’s environmental acoustics requirements.

Required Criteria
You will have experience of assuring and assessing Environmental Impacts of Noise and vibrations – assuring designs and will have experience of managing / controlling noise – noise & vibrations risk mitigations.
Successful candidate will likely working as a Acoustic Engineer / Consultant for an engineering consultancy but open to people from contractor and other client background. Will have a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience.
You will be an excellent communicator capable of communicating and advising across HS2, supply chain (contractors), local authorities, on occasion might have to assist with public forums.
SKILLS

Ability to communicate effectively with technical specialists, non-technical project managers and stakeholders.

Ability to technically assess and review noise assessment deliverables submitted by contractors.

Ability to review parliamentary submissions as part of the hybrid Bill & petitioning process.

Ability to support the Head of Noise Assessment with preparing stakeholder engagement materials, exhibits and petitioner responses.

Ability to prepare technical responses to Parliamentary Questions and Freedom of Information requests.
KNOWLEDGE

Suitable experience or education to demonstrate understanding of environmental noise and health and sustainability principles

Corporate memberships with the Institute of Acoustics or an equivalent organisation

Knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, technical guidance, industry standards and best practice in relation to noise and vibration matters
TYPE OF EXPERIENCE

Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams within complex and medium to high risk projects.

Experience of undertaking and/or interpreting infrastructure related noise and vibration measurements, predictions, and assessments

Experience in application of noise and vibration control methods for the construction and operation of a large project.

Experience of working with a team of acoustics professional as well as external contractors and consultants.
