- Description
- I am looking for Requirements Verification & Validation Manager to work on the new build of a High-Speed railway project in the UK.
You will assure the consistent disaggregation and application of requirements across HS2 construction contracts. To progressively verify and validate the evidence submitted by the respective contracts and their Integrated Project Teams that sets out how those requirements have been met.
This role is predominately Verification & Validation of the evidence submitted by the Tier 1 main contractors on the construction of Phase 1 (London to Birmingham). You also must have experience using Doors and understand requirements management – you will be expected to work collaboratively with the contractors and be able to mentor their teams in the use of Doors and effective requirements management.
Reporting to the Lead Requirements and V&V Manager you will be working alongside configuration managers working close and collaboratively with the Tier 1 main contractors delivery teams on Phase
The post holder can decide the following:
- Advise on the suitability and completeness of Requirements, specification and scope. Challenge Requirements where deemed necessary.
- Review and respond to stakeholders (internal and external) on the integration of their Requirements and assumptions.
- Escalate risks/issues to Head of Engineering and Environment (HoEE) within the relevant IPT and or the Lead Requirements V&V manager

Provide recommendations to change and decision panel on technical scope development.
- Decide work commitments and priorities on a weekly basis.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the development of requirements and satisfaction criteria with other Infrastructure Directorate functions or disciplines such that they can be clearly understood and evidenced by the supply chain;
- To ensure consistent application of requirements and V&V processes across the delivery contracts;
- To oversee the cascade of requirements from the Phase One PRS and creation of CRTs;
- To ensure the relevant approved technical information and requirements are instructed to the supply chain by HS2;
- To communicate updates to technical requirements across the HS2 Delivery Directorate and Supply chain;
- To ensure that V&V activities are targeted and planned appropriately with risk and performance in mind;
- To own and present data-based reporting on IPT adherence to technical processes and requirements; through the provision of analysis and control metrics in the field of requirements disaggregation and satisfaction such that the progress of the contracts and IPTs can be monitored, corrected and understood.
- Facilitate user feedback on HS2 procedures to the relevant technical group/author thus supporting continuous improvement of HS2 Requirements V&V ways of working.
- Work collaboratively and achieve agreements with stakeholders and third parties in managing their technical requirements, success criteria and the level of evidence.
- Liaise with oter HS2 functions such as risk, requirements, configuration & change, information management (BIM) to ensure sharing of information and consideration of risks and issues.
- To mentor and coach engineers and environmentalists working to provide evidence and satisfaction arguments in the importance and ultimate purpose of requirements management.

The key expeirence
The successful candidate will have experience as a Verification & Validation Engineer / Manager within an engineering setting, they will understand design works – could be from a range of backgrounds – infrastructure, rail, construction, automotive, defence, aviation etc.
You also must have experience using Doors and understand requirements management
Skills- Ability to establish, clarify and communicate the importance of functional and non-functional requirements with others.
- Competent in digital data and information analysis and trend reporting
- Quantitatively and qualitatively assess the performance of delivery organisations against of chain against objective requirements
- Ability to work with subject matter experts.
- Ability to review results and work with stakeholders to gain agreement on resultant issues.
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of the DOORS Requirements management tool.
- Knowledge of requirements engineering practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts.

Ideally have Understanding of the roles and responsibilities under CDM Regulations 2015, and have knowledge of the European Common Safety Methods guidance
- Knowledge of verification and validation methods.
- Ideally will have Knowledge of working within an NEC3 contract environment
TYPE OF EXPERIENCE
- Experience of managing Requirements and the oversight and implementation of assurance processes on engineering projects ideally infrastructure projects but open to other engineering backgrounds –rail, construction, automotive, defence, aviation etc
- Experience of liaising with contractors and designers.
- Experience of multi-discipline programmes
- Experience of providing specialist advice to support others
