Description

I am looking for a Business Development/Technical Sales professional with experience within the waste water industry.  Working for a rapidly growing company who design, manufacture and install Structured Media Filters for biological wastewater treatment applications in both municipal and industrial wastewater.  UK manufactured and industry acknowledge best installation process my client grew 70% in the last year with healthy profit margins.

The company works in 3 distinct marketplaces Construction (urban drainage system), Colling Tower Fills and Wastewater filter media.  The company are looking to expand further into the Wastewater sector they have a great product, UK manufactured, excellent full turnkey installation.  They have a history within the sector such as manufacturing and fitting a nitrifying trickler filter (NTF) at Southern Water’s Ashford Wastewater treatment works for Barhale construction.  However, all works in the sector has come through direct enquires what they are looking for is a Business Development Manager who is able to drive more work by getting them on the tender list and creating more business opportunities for them.

With manufacturing facilities based in Cheltenham  they are very flexiabel on location and happy for someone to be based from home, likely go to the office 4-5 times a month.
 

Job Role

I am looking for a Business Development Manager or Technical sales professional who knows the water - wastewater industry.  You will have knowledge of both the contractor landscape (Tier 1 & 2’s) and water authorities (Thames Water, Severn Trent) with understanding and knowledge of their procurement routes plus contacts within those organisations.  The main aim is to able to get my client onto the tender list which will enable them to tender and win work within the wastewater market.  Also to identify live projects that may be moving from tender to build.

Why is this such a great product & Company

Wastewater filter media have traditionally been made from concrete my client manufacturers an innovative UPVC product for Wate Water Filter Media which is 50% cheaper than traditional concrete with significant benefits in terms of efficiency, carbon footprint and ease of installation.  The construction phase is acknowledged as being the most professional with the shortest installation programme that reduces cost for the Main Contractor and utility company.  In addition they have in house design and process engineering, which aligned to out installation capabilities means they are “cradle to grave” - for the Main Contractor and utility company this means all risk is in one place which is contractually important and a significant benefit.

The UK firm is part owned by a sizable German Engineering company who not only give the company financial and technical support but also provide the production machinery which is in-house manufactured that also increases the competitiveness of the produced product.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifying procurement process for AMP7 by Water utility
  • Identify APM7 partners for water utilities – i.e. Tier 1 and 2 contractors - id
  • Gain approved supplier status with contractors
  • Obtain tenders
  • Assist in the creation of client proposals and any subsequent documentation as part of the submission team
  • Develop a thorough understanding of client’s objectives, their organisation, their personnel and their capital works programme.
  • Submit and follow up quotation’s assistance (will be given with pricing and contractual aspects) negotiating to win contracts
  • Conduct post project performance reviews and prepare information for Senior Management team.
  • Attend meetings and events with clients and potential clients.
  • Generation of leads and appointments for preliminary interviews and briefings
  • Attention to detail to ensure all potential leads are captured and explored.
  • Report on Business Development activities to Managing Director
  • Represent the business at industry events and trade shows.
  • Manage a pipeline of opportunities ensuring that all deadlines are met and that information presented meets the company standards.
  • Keep informed about issues affecting the industry sector and collect competitor information.
  • Ensure the business remains proactive and responsive to prospective clients.
  • Produce a report of opportunities and leads which is updated on a monthly basis.

  • Personal and professional demeanour and credibility, which commands confidence of external partners, key stakeholders, members, clients, senior managers and employees
  • Strong communication skills in all forms
  • Holder of a Full UK Drivers License.


Getting to the office

Offices are based in Cheltenham though they are very flexible, and you can be based anywhere in the country – typically at the office 4-5 times a month.
