Job Overview

Recruiting for a dual role of BIM Trainer & BIM Coordinator / Manger working for a National UK multi-disciplinary property consultancy working within their dedicated Digital Engineering Consultancy. Unique hybrid role where you can split your time as an internal BIM Trainer for this national UK building consultancy with 1200 employees whom have 400 Revit designers. In addition, you will also work in the Digital Engineering consultancy, an externally facing Bim consultancy offering services to a wide variety of external clients:- clients, consultants, architects, and contractors. Working with high-profile clients in sectors ranging from defence, manufacturing, healthcare, residential, cultural, education, and motorsport (Formula 1) with construction values anywhere from £5M to more than £500M.

BIM trainer will devise and deliver BIM trainings across the business, largely focused with Revit (structures, MEP, Architectural) but also Civil 3d and other software’s – using a range of teaching methods – classroom, workshops, Teams, 1to1 etc. There is a current teaching programme in place which will need to be reviewed, updated and as new requirements come in training programme put together.

In addition, you will also work as a BIM Coordinator, Manager, Information Manager depending on your level & experience providing a range of services in the BIM & digital engineering space to a wide variety of external clients - direct to clients, Consultants & Contractors, therefore the workload is very varied. Could be helping a client form their Information Requirements and the next day assist a Contractor to tender for a BIM Level 2 job or advise an owner operator on their asset information requirements.

They are looking for a BIM Trainer or BIM professional with training experience to work from either their Birmingham, Manchester or London office, they offer hybrid working and there will be travel to other offices to deliver training and client offices for projects.

Trainer Duties & Responsibilities:

·Develop strategies for benchmarking and raising BIM capability across all levels of seniority

·Delivery of training on BIM software and processes including;

oAutodesk Revit (Architecture, Structure, and MEP)

oAutodesk Civil3D

oAutodesk Construction Cloud (BIM Collaborate Pro)

oISO19650 Standards and Process

·Develop training material including guidance notes and videos

·Report on progress and coverage of the training programme

·Travel to other Ridge offices as part of the upskilling programme

·Delivery of training on other software (can learn before you deliver) such as Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Navisworks, Autodesk Recap, Dynamo, Di-Roots, MS Power BI, A-Site (

·Engage with external training providers around specialist training subjects.

·Support the Digital Engineering Group with broader strategic objectives.

The Digital/BIM Consultancy

The Digital Engineering team is an independent and growing team of 20 digital engineers of varying levels which has enjoyed many successes including year on year growth, shortlisted for the BIM & Digital Initiative of the Year at the Building Awards & BSI BIM certified ISO 19560 1& 2. The Digital Engineering team is operated as its own independent consultancy and so the successful candidate will have an opportunity to be directly involved in the running, marketing and development of the business unit.

Location & Agile Working

The BIM Team is located from Birmingham, London, Manchester, Bristol or Winchester. Location is flexible and can be based from any of the offices, normal for people to work 2 days from home as long as they are prepared to travel to deliver trainings and to projects when required.

The team provide a range of services in the BIM and Digital Engineering space direct to Client organisations, external Consultant teams & Contractors. Typical roles and services include BIM Coordination, Information Management, 4D Simulations, as well as unique developed services such as Model Firestopping Review service and contributing to pioneering pilot projects such as our Digital Twin, Building Safety Digitalisation, or Digital FM programmes The Digital Engineering team also play a key part in making new technology recommendations, administering standards within the wider consultancy and adopting innovations through automating and BIM Programming, which can also be offered as an external consultancy service.

·Strong knowledge of BIM standards, emerging software, and industry developments

·Awareness of own strengths and weaknesses with a commitment to self and team development

·Able to build trust, maintain excellent working relationships, and pursue new business

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Industry experience in a relevant position – Bim Trainer, BIM Coordinator, BIM Manager
  • Demonstrable working background of Revit
  • Bachelors, Masters, or other qualifications in built environment subjects or BIM is desirable, but not essential.
