- Description
- An interim IT Vendor Manager is required to work on the High-Speed Rail Program until Dec, the multi-billion-pound high-speed railway to directly link the city centers of: London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester. The IT Vendor Manager will work within the IT department of this major project. Please note the IT Vendor Manager is not working in the Procurement / Contract Management department but with the IT department and will concentrate on driving innovation, process efficiencies, cost savings & measuring supplier performance assessing key KPI’s using an Excel Dashboard, rather than contractual maters – variations, novation’s, service penalties etc. Contract extensions a definite possibility.
IT Vendor Manager - This role is responsible for assisting in the management and governance of IT commercial controls. Developing a capability that interfaces and integrates with internal contract, procurement capabilities and to operationally manage external suppliers.
The Vendor Manager will be responsible for managing the relationship of a major IT service provider and will be tasked with a new Service Reporting initiative – where the IT service provided performance is being closely and fairly monitored using 6 KPI with 12 separate measures and this is all collected in an Excel to create a management dashboard. In addition, the service provider is transitioning from one major supplier to another.
Work Situation
The office location is Birmingham Snowhill, they operate a flexible hybrid working model working 2 days a week from the office (Monday anchor day). Overall this is a very flexible modern employer who cares about delivery not where you deliver from, however, if you wish to be based front the office more you can.

Duties & Responsibilities
- To assist in the operational performance management of external partners, engaging with professionals in other related disciplines (e.g. procurement specialists, contract managers, lawyers) as appropriate, ensuring HS2 IT is getting the best value for their money.
- To assist in the management of contracts which are under £10k in value
- To assist in the capture of IT statement of requirements and collation of IT Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) information, providing inputs into PQQs and Invitation to Tender (ITT).
- To conduct operational reviews of Supplier performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and challenge and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- To be responsible for reducing costs arising from service issues, increasing efficiency, improving communication through better understanding of users’ needs and championing continual improvement.
- To be responsible for working with IT Portfolio within agreed assurance processes to bring the requirements to Procurement at early stages.
- To be responsible for IT Business Management activities (including: Budget, system admin, Projects, Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, Process improvements, Generation of spend forecast etc).

CANDIDATE CRITERIA
Looking for an IT Vendor Manager with a good understanding of the software needs of a corporate business. Ideally you will have experience transitioning from one supplier to another. Experience managing major IT suppliers – and have experience monitoring supplier performance i.e. Service reporting- Ability to effectively use data analytics to showcase business performance (using Excel).
Must have strong excel spread sheet experience (create use formula), also Power point and a bonus if had experience of Power BI.
Will have good communication and stakeholder management skills with the confidence and attention to detail to correctly extract performance information from suppliers.
Skills:
- Continual service improvement. Ability to analyse current processes, identify and implement opportunities to optimise processes, and lead and develop a team of experts to deliver service improvements.
- Relationship management. Ability to determine the approach and direction and positively influence important senior stakeholders.
- Service reporting. Ability to effectively use data analytics to showcase business performance.
- Policy Advice. Ability to define policies, providing guidance to others on working in the strategic context.
- Good IT skills especially Excel Spread sheets (formulas, management information), Power Point and a bonus Power Point.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of policy, legislative, regulatory and operational constraints, adapting technology where needed.
- Knowledge of procurement frameworks, issues, risks, governance, compliance and assurance.
- Knowledge of IT landscape of corporate businesses
Type of experience:
- Experience of using IT frameworks and procedures.
