- Power BI Developer & Analyst
Required Power BI Developer & Analyst working directly for High Speed 2, the new multi-billion-pound high-speed railway to directly link the city centres of: London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester. Working within the Communication & Stakeholder Engagement (CSE’s) department’s Strategy & Insight team as a Business Intelligence Analyst to deliver data and reporting functions as they transition from manual reporting to the Power Bi platform. Initially contract 6 months, highly likely to be extended.
Role Description
- Deliver a business intelligence function, which enables better capture, analysis, mapping and reporting of data to inform strategic decision making and to allow for robust measurement and tracking of key metrics across Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Directorate (CSE) plan priorities.
- This role primarily supports CSE, with the candidate required to build relationships across a dispersed directorate to gather data and narrative to strict deadlines, and to enable reporting outputs to a range of audiences, both internally and externally to HS2.
- The candidate must have experience of building graphs and reports using Excel and Powerpoint for a non-technical audience.
- The candidate should have knowledge on how to build reports and dashboards using Power BI.
Specific Role/Task Requirements:
- Lead on the production of monthly and quarterly corporate reporting products to strict deadlines, supporting HS2’s project controls team, gathering data and narrative from across CSE. This primarily involves utilising and an existing process utilising Excel and PowerPoint to produce reports.

- Build on the CSE Power BI workplace, using the Stakeholder Relationship Management (SRM) system and other data sources, to transition to the automation of the production of corporate and directorate reporting products (listed above).
- Lead of the development of automated corporate reports for project controls
- Collaborate with the Public Response Business Intelligence Manager to automate Public Response Reports
- Collaborate with the U&A Business Analyst to automate U&A Reports
- Develop dashboards and reporting using Power BI that will enable:
- User self-service of functional reporting products
- An integrated planning, performance and risk dashboard (CSE Management Dashboard)
- Wider business insight and intelligence (heat maps, mapping etc)
Working Situation – Hybrid very flexible
Role is based from Birmingham coupled with Hybrid working – expectation is to work 2 days a week from the office and the rest of the time at home. This is a modern flexible employer.
Salary £500 – 550 a day INSIDE IR35

Looking for a Power BI developer & Business Analyst who is very proficient in Power BI able to create reports, dashboards and model data and in addition make sensible business suggestions / decisions with the data.
Also want someone who is willing to keep up with the currently manual monthly reporting before all of this can be automated and produces through Power BI – but most be willing to initially report manually.
