The focus of your role –
The need to work with organisation to help them improve their processes and systems have never been more important as Utility, Engineering, Capital Infrastructure Clients grapple with big complex issues such as the journey to net zero, the increased demand for a greener, more reliable, secured, and cost-effective energy system, operational digitalisation, meeting the demands of regulators and indeed their customers.
In this role you will work within a team of consultants helping to deliver and solve these big issues, coming up with solutions to business problems and help to introduce these systems & new processes. You will drive the processes to create new solutions for their clients using leading techniques, combining strategy, technology, data science and creative design expertise with an inventive mindset. Work with their clients to solve their most complex business and technology challenges.

What you’ll DO
In this role, you will work with our Energy & Utilities clients to shape their journey, co-designing and supporting their transformation. Looking for enthusiastic consultants experienced in the delivery of Operations Transformation to join the Utilities Sector Team and be part of the Asset & Operations team delivering successful end to end transformation programmes with a wide variety of Utility & Energy clients..
Consultants in this role will be dynamic in their approach and able to manage operations transformation change with personality, precision and predictability to help realise measurable, positive business outcomes. You will focus on the transfer of capability and also contribute to the strategic direction of the Sector Transformation team, coaching and developing others as well as applying your skills in business development activities
What will you bring:
You’ll bring experience in Operations Transformation Delivery ideally in Water Utilities or other regulated industries such as Energy Retail, Infrastructure and Telecommunications. You may be working within a Utilities company or Infrastructure organisation or already a consultant. You must have strong problem solving and analytical skills, strong communication skills, a collaborative attitude and experience in project and programme management.
In addition, you’ll have the following specific experience and personal attributes gained within the Utilities (ideally Water) sector:
- Experience of managing or working on large complex programmes and delivering digital transformation services / projects

Ability to apply knowledge in the following areas:
- Water and Wastewater Operations, Capital delivery, Customer Services and Back Office
- Deployment of Digital Transformation solutions and services
- Supporting capabilities for the Water Sector including Telemetry, Asset Management, Workforce Management, Business Strategy, Business Planning
- Supporting technologies for Water, including Scada, Telemetry, Big Data, Cloud, Metering systems, CRM and Billing
- Emerging trends in Water such as IoT, mobile applications, automation, energy management, digital twin and BIM
- Operationalising solutions, for example transitioning factory models for RPA, energy and mobile Apps into operations, integrating advanced analytics into operational business as usual etc.
Personal Attributes
You will be highly motivated, a self-starter, bringing a proactive, can-do attitude to project delivery, capable of working independently as well as in teams in a sometimes-demanding project environment. You will have the knowledge and gravitas to credibly engage effectively with a range of utilities project staff up to a senior level on utilities project specific subjects. You will enjoy working in a collaborative team environment, providing direction and helping others to develop. You will be able to anticipate and adjust positively to situations with clients that involve changing tasks and/or location, shifting priorities or ambiguity. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to listen to understand the client situation and the ability to communicate clearly and efficiently on potentially complex issues. Ability to work within an integrated team environment in a fast paced, pressurised client environment. You’ll have a track record of successful delivery within large scale projects or Projects working alongside other parties.
Career Development
You will start as a Senior Consultant and will be provided an individual training programme to ensure you have the skills required from the consultant tool kit and exposed to the required experience which will enable you to develop and progress through the organisation.
To give you an idea of the next steps on the career ladder Career ladder / Progression:
- Senior Consultant £50 – 70,000 Bonus (£4 - £8000
- Managing Consultant (Salary £72 - 96k + Bonus £7-15K)
- Consultant where salaries range £96 – 140k (Bonus up to £25k) and that is even before we reach executive level.
Flexibility and Working Away
Whilst you will have London or another regional city as an office base location (typically 1 day each fortnight), you must be flexible in terms of assignment location within UK, as these roles may involve periods of time away from home at short notice – however the days of working 4 / 5 days a week at a client office are largely gone due to the pandemic and management consultancies are adopting a hybrid model where work will be done at home, office and client’s office
All expenses will be covered whilst away and you will be given a company credit card.
