- High Speed 2 the new multi-billion-pound high-speed railway to directly link the city centres of: London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester. They are looking for a Construction Assurance Manager who will provide support to the HS2 NEC3 Project Manager and be accountable for providing specialist constructability support and expertise at each stage of the construction process.
The Construction Assurance Manager will also undertake a risk based approach to the assurance of the constructability of the Works, whilst maintaining standards of health and safety, and supporting the required project delivery outcomes, namely, quality, environmental impact, Undertakings and Assurance obligations. The post-holder will work closely with the HS2 NEC3 Supervisor, the HS2 Compliance and Assurance Manager, and the Stakeholder and Interfaces Manager in undertaking their role.
This is a Site based Construction Management role working in the Integrated Client / Main Contractor Delivery team in the main civil engineering works of Phase 1 where you will provide Constructability Assurance and specialist advice. Working alongside the Eiffage joint venture (Kier, Ferrovial & Bam Nuttall) on the Central Section of Phase 1 in and around the Aylesbury Buckinghamshire area. The main works consists of: site set up, earthworks, piling, structures, bridges & Ground Engineering.
Happy to consider applicants from either Engineering or trades background who had management experience on large civil engineering or major construction sites with multiple stakeholders and interfaces with Principal Contractor or Client background. This is site-based role.
The section the Construction Assurance Manager will be supervising and assuring works valued to c£650 – 700m on phase 1. Reporting to the Head of Project Client managing 2 or 3 Assistant Construction Assurance Managers. Taking a risk-based approach some 200 – 250 high risk elements will be your focus within your section these include – heavy lifts, viaducts, poor ground conditions, working at height etc.
Salary & Location
Looking to pay £72 – 81,780 + Pen (6:12). The role is site based around the Buckinghamshire area and the expectation will be that you are on site at least 4 days a week.
The sites are based around the Aylesbury.
Please note no travel to work costs (the commute), car allowance or subsistence is paid.
Responsibilities:
· Accountable for Constructability Assurance, taking a risk based approach by reviewing processes and plans that are considered to be high risk to HS2.
· Accountable for providing specialist advice and expertise at all stages of the
· construction process to the NEC 3 Project Manager in administering the contract.
· Responsible for managing the HS2 Control Point Process.
· Responsible for facilitating safety tours and other site based HS2 safety practices.
· Responsible for supporting the NEC3 Project Manager in discharging their duties.
· Responsible for supporting the NEC3 Supervisor in discharging their duties.
· Responsible for supporting the functional teams in assuring that the works are adhering to U&A’s, EMR and CoCP requirements.
· Responsible for supporting HS2 cross contract interfaces with respect to constructability.

Candidate Criteria
Open to candidates from either an engineering background Project Manager/Construction Manager/Site Agent or GF / Works Manager/Clerk of works/Construction Manager from a trades who have worked for either main contractor or client on major civil engineering or construction sites. They will have good supervisory managment experience and a good handle on CDM regs, Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental, Risk Management, Planning & Constructability. The individual will be a confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to talk with the public and external stakeholders. They must be able to demonstrate both career and professional development. They will be a good problem solver and confident self-starters, able to manage themselves and their workload.
Ideally will have major heavy civils experience – Highways, Rail, Water etc. but would also consider people from major construction experience – hospitals, commercial, university projects.

Knowledge:
· Best practice IPT (Integrate Project Team) management principles and matrix organisations.
· Applicable UK construction regulations including Construction Design Management (CDM) and (Construction Safety Management) CSM requirements.
· Knowledge and experience of site-based processes and procedures for health, safety, environmental and environmental management.
· Demonstrable record evidencing knowledge of construction methodology.
· Supply chain sectors across various geographies and industries (incl. civil, construction and rail).
Type of experience:
· Proven construction experience gained across a range of large-scale projects, with a sound understanding of construction planning. Working for either Clients or main contractors.
· Construction experience of large-scale Civil Engineering projects including earthworks, bridges and structures construction and ground engineering. Will also consider people from major construction background (hospitals, schools, commercial, regeneration etc).
· Proven experience in managing and administering contracts, preferably NEC but will consider JCT and other contracts
Degree level qualification in civil engineering, construction or building science or the equivalent experience – happy to consider trades background especially if they have a track recor of professional development accreditation, memberships
