Job Purpose
The Power BI Developer will be required to assist in the provision of high quality reporting and analytics processes and tools for the programme as well as delivering the data science capability to ensure HS2 is able to exploit their valuable information and data using the latest tools and techniques.
You will be tasked with working on a 3-month project to create dashboards, reports, data modelling working on a major report for the Land and Propoerty department regarding land and property purchases.
Looking for a Power BI developer who is very proficient in Power BI able to create reports, dashboards and model data and in addition code in SQL.
Role of Department / Directorate
IT directorate, charged with providing IT services, support and change activities across HS2.
Accountabilities
- Support HS2’s strategy for data analysis, ensuring it is in line with business needs, the Delivery Strategy, Information Strategy and IT Strategy
- Lead internal consultancy and delivery projects to enable the organisation to get maximum value from its information
- Monitor emerging technologies for relevance to HS2’s needs and propose potential solutions in the areas of business intelligence, management reporting, data exploitation and data analytics
- Lead work to bring data analytics approach into programme controls and design/engineering processes to aid decision making and support HS2’s BIM capability, in particular using data to aid cross-functional working across these disciplines.
- Use data science and exploitation to drive intelligent decision making across the entire HS2 programme.
- Work with stakeholders across ICT and HS2 to ensure technology strategy supports data analysis needs, providing the best-in-breed tools to support the HS2’s requirements. Provides support and maintenance of analytics and BI solutions.
- Work with stakeholders across the organisation to explain, educate and enthuse on the opportunities of information and methods for business intelligence, management reporting, data exploitation and data analytics
- Support the Data Analytics Manager in establishing a high-performing data analytics team as a key part of the overall Information Management team. This team provides support for wider capability in data analytics across the HS2 business

SKILLS
- Ability to produce and present documents and reports to a variety of audiences, including internal stakeholders at various levels in the organisation

- An understanding of the Data Science field in order to provide support to the Data Science population

- Information/data modelling approaches
- Data analytics approaches and tools (e.g. reporting, business intelligence, management information)
- Experience of maintaining and updating BI tools, dashboards, systems or methods
- Experience of using and implementing Power BI - will be a Power BI developer

- Broad knowledge of latest technologies as well as the ability to provide detailed technical advice and assurance when required

- The systems landscape in HS2 is complex and rapidly changing – a strong appreciation of the wider business and its needs alongside keeping aware of the broader delivery portfolio and its implications
