- JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to and working closely with the Programme Director for HS2 central region, with a budget consisting of £2.5 – 3billion worth of works.
Please note this Project Management (Business Management) role working on High Speed 2 does not require rail experience and the client is open to candidates from different backgrounds – they do require someone to have Project, Programme management, experience and so understands baselines, risks, contingency etc – and meets the required criteria as detailed below, possible backgrounds could be infrastructure, manufacturing, automobile, aerospace etc it really is open.
- ROLE OF DEPARTMENT
The successful Project Manager (Business Management) will be working in the central section which is the largest area of HS2 phase 1 consisting of Tunnels, Large Viaducts travelling through rural areas from the Chilterns and through Warwickshire.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead, review and influence HS2 subject matter experts to deliver special projects or continuous improvement projects on behalf of the Programme Director
- Working with the relevant functions to monitor, improve and advise on the programme with regards to time, cost, resources, quality and safety in support of the Programme Director.
- Responsible for producing the Area Management Plan and other Area level documentation
- Manage the business planning process, keeping to company timescales for the delivery of annual business plans and maintaining compliance with the Phase One workforce plan
- Assure that the management of health, safety and security (HS&S) by the appointed supply chain meets the required standard
- Collaborate and support teams embedded within the various delivery partners to deliver the project deliverables
- Assimilate, manage and present complex information
- Act as the first point of contact for outside of Area requests for information or new areas of work before they have an Area lead
- Provide support on the creation of materials for both internal and external audiences including reports and briefings on behalf of the Programme Director as required. In addition, provide area information when required to the Managing Directors office
- Supporting the Programme Director in Area level decision making including the secretariat for the Area Change and Investment Panel, reviewing the quality of the papers submitted and maintaining the Area Forward Look
