Description
National Design & Build M&E Contractor require BIM Coordinator (Revit MEP) to work from their Northern offices in York working on a wide mix of private and public MEP projects – typical project include major school and hospital new builds as well as commercial and residential developments.
 
The BIM Coordinator will coordinate MEP services using appropriate information and produce installation and fabrication drawings for the project team and offsite manufacturing facility.  Working from initial concept design, developed design, technical design, fabrication design main duties will include:
 
  • Creating files
  • Producing /amending information in accordance with project standards, BEP etc.
  • Ensure models are spatially coordinated
  • Escalate clashes/interface issues to Task Interface Manager
  • Submit information for approval in accordance with target dates set out in the Task Information Delivery Plan (TIDP)

The BIM Coordinator will be responsible for Coordinating BIM on 1 -3 projects (depending on size) reporting to a BIM Project Leader based out of offices in York.

Key Accountabilities will include:
  • To coordinate and produce drawings for mechanical, public health, electrical services and builderswork in accordance with BSRIA BG6 2014 stage 5 to an agreed programme using Autocad, Fabrication, Revit MEP and Navisworks
  • To be completely familiar with all aspects of Autocad, Autodesk Fabrication, Revit MEP and Navisworks necessary for efficient and accurate coordination of building services
  • To consider CDM requirements during coordination
  • To take account of project specifications and employers requirements
  • To be familiar with the appropriate technical documents such as British Standards, HTM’s, Building Bulletins and any other documents relevant to the type of project
  • To produce drawings in accordance with the SES BIM Manual
  • To keep up to date with materials and methods of installation used during PRISM prefabrication
  • To model services accurately to enable material & weight takeoff using procured equipment and the PRISM service agreement
  • To check all work and on occasion that of other employees thoroughly using the SES BIM checking procedures
  • To work as part of a team to produce consistent output
  • To work as directed by the BIM Project Leader on a project by project basis
  • To accurately record time spent on projects and note any changes to scope using Mosaic as requested by the BIM Project Leader
  • To carry out all other drawing duties as required including (but not limited to) sketches, tender, working, installation & fabrication, module, skid and record drawings. 

Main Challenges
  • To maintain programme and budget
  • To adapt consultant design to facilitate PRISM solutions.
  • To interpret the Technical design information and provide an accurate, coordinated, installable, maintainable solution.
  • To ensure that all materials and equipment are modelled accurately using procured data to facilitate material takeoff.

ONC / HNC Building Services will also consider civils or building background who have an appreciation of MEP

Experience

BIM SOFTWARE– Revit, AutoCAD and ideally Navisworks

Design & Coordination Knowledge
  • Ability to size pipework or ductwork
  • Knowledge of coordination good practice for main services distribution routes, risers and plantrooms with the ability to integrate offsite manufacturing solutions.
  • Good understanding of implications of coordination on system resistances and plant duties
 
Practical Knowledge
  • Knowledge of main pipework systems, jointing and their components
  • knowledge of DW144
  • knowledge of cable containment types, limitations/restrictions, installation methods
  • Capable of site survey
 
CDM/SHE Knowledge
  • Understanding of Coordinators obligations under CDM 2015
  • Thorough understanding of access, maintenance and buildability for corridors, risers and plantrooms
 
Practical and intellectual Skills
  • Effective communicator and an ability to deliver clear written or verbal reports
  • Ability to work under pressure, to strict timetables and with an exceptional level of accuracy
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities
 
Please note the company is happy to employ a Technician with good Revit Skills and a good appreciation of MEP who is both a good communicator and can produce work in a timely fashion with exceptional levels of accuracy; who is a quick learner and can learn on the job and become an MEP BIM Coordinator.
