Description
Working for the most technologiucally advanced and largest consulting engineer in the UK as a BIM / Digital Development Engineer (Electrical focus).  Working with the central BIM solutions group (7 strong) which acts as a BIM consultancy to the rest of the UK business.

Role Purpose
You will be working with the BIM Solutions Group to develop and implement processes for electrical engineering using Revit and other Digital Engineering tools. In particular:

1.       Develop our capability for electrical engineering analysis within Revit models:
a.       Wire calculations using the Revit-Amtech link
b.       Comparison of lighting calculation tools: Elumtools, export to Relux, export to dialux
2.       Produce training manual modules for the application of the above tools.
3.       Deliver training to engineers:
a.       As part of the standard training course (estimated 2-3 days per month), and
b.       Through online presentations, screen capture videos and “bitesize” modules.
4.       Assist the team with managing the electrical Revit content in the central library
5.       Stay aware of emerging tools and technologies to optimise our core and specialist electrical engineering workflows (small power, lighting, daylighting, security, communications, fire, etc.)
6.       Where necessary, work with our in-house software developers to create new add-ins and tools to improve core functionality of digital engineering tools.
7.       Provide support to project teams in deployment/use of current and new tools and processes.

Working directly with the project teams.  Manage & prioritise own workload.  Working with design team partners. Using and developing the companies' standards.  Using other related software and engineering skills to assist with development.

Person Specification
Attention to detail, well organised, methodical, and practical experience of working as an engineer or BIM Technician in a Building Services environment, or similar.  REVIT proficient (or with a demonstrable interest in employing technology to enhance and improve engineering capability).  Pro-active & self-motivated.
 

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a good practical understanding of the BIM process within a Building Services environment,
  • Is comfortable presenting to others in a classroom environment,
  • Is interested in keeping up to date with the latest technology,
  • Can assist project teams in adopting best practice in implementing BIM methodologies and practices,
  • Will support the work associated with software upgrades and testing,
  • Can provide desktop support to engineers using Lync, email or telephone
 
You will be focused, proactive and flexible, at ease working as part of a team and communicating BIM/Revit best practice at an industry level.
 
You will have natural communication skills and comfortable communicating with people at all levels to enable you to build good working relationships.
