- Description
I am looking for Infrastructure / Civil CAD Technician with very good Civil 3D modelling experience, capable of modelling Earthworks and excavations; working within the Digital Engineering team on site for the new build of Hinkley Point Power Station taking responsibility for highly technical excavation modelling.
Overview
A major international engineering and contracting company, who adopt modern Lean construction techniques and are the market leaders in BIM, are recruiting for CAD / BIM Technician with Civil 3D experience to join their award-winning Digital (BIM) Engineering Team for the £2 billion Infrastructure Mega Project to build a new Nuclear Power Station at Hinkley Point.
The BIM Technician will reporting to the Digital Team Leader on site and will be responsible for modelling of excavation and back-fills using Civil 3D. The excavations are very challenging and technical due to the geometry of the surfaces and so requires someone with both the technical software and engineering skills/knowledge.
Working
You will be working within the dedicated Digital Engineering team based on site for the Nuclear New Build Project, this is a small but growing team which provides the site teams – engineers, project managers with all necessary Digital Engineering support. There is a larger digital engineering team based in Bristol providing all the pre-construction BIM support (ensuring the design works). However the site provides BIM assistance to the site ensuring they understand models, preparing 4D programmes, GA, as builts, temporary works etc. The role will be fast based and varied because the site team will have additional requirements that need to be jumped on
Project
Working on the UK’s first New Nuclear Power Station in over 20 years, this extremely high profile project duration is 7 years and the project consists of highly complex massive reinforced structures and buildings. The scale of the project is huge - each nuclear island is the equivalent size of St Paul’s Cathedral; and around enough concrete will be poured to fill Twickenham Rugby Stadium to roof level.
Location
The position is based full time from the Site in Bridgwater.
