- Description
As a Senior Drainage Engineer working on the UK’s New High Speed Rail Project you will develop the technical standards and other project requirements relating to drainage and watercourses. You will also provide specialist technical support to those undertaking drainage engineering design, drainage-related environmental activities and drainage-related construction activities for the project, and to review such work undertaken to ensure that they contribute to the project goals.
About the role:
- Support the production and management of a robust development, design and construction process which will include requirements, scope, assumptions, departures phasing, work and asset breakdown of Verification and validation regimes
- Contribute to definition of scopes of services for package orders to be let under contracts where these relate to drainage engineering
- Review technical submissions from designers so that they are progressively assured and accepted
- Develop project requirements, specifications and standards in collaboration with colleagues in the Technical Directorate where these relate to drainage engineering
- Provide leadership and coordination on other assigned tasks on behalf of the Built Environment team
- Contribute to the identification and management of technical risk for drainage engineering works
- Identify technical issues as they arise, and work with colleagues across other engineering disciplines as required
- Contribute to the efficient management of discipline interfaces within HS2, and provide technical expertise relating to drainage engineering to designers, contractors, Technical Directorate colleagues and other HS2 staff
- Draft technical responses to drainage-related Freedom of Information requests and in response to questions from the public during the consultation process
- Provide technical expertise and interact with external stakeholders (including drainage authorities and the public) as required
About You:
- Degree qualified in relevant engineering subject.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the CDM regulations.
- Knowledge of flooding-related issues and methods of mitigation.
- Development, design and construction of major projects and related environmental issues.
- NEC3 form of contract.
- Experience in a similar role on a large infrastructure project
- Experience of the design of a variety of drainage solutions including ones that include pumping stations and balancing ponds.
- Experience of effective working as part of a multi-disciplined management team.
- Experience of project planning and organisation to meet project deadlines and budgets.
