Description

As a Senior System Safety Manager working on the UK's High Speed Rail Project you will be part of the team responsible for the leadership of the system safety activities for the project, supporting the design of a safe future operational railway. The team is developing the system safety strategies, processes and procedures for the project as well as directly leading or managing some of risk assessments.

 

About the role:
 

  • Responsible for supporting the HS2 organisation to ensure compliance with the Railways (Interoperability) Regulations and the Common Safety Method regulation on Risk Assessment and Evaluation for the HS2 project.
  • Supporting the future operators’ compliance with the Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations;
  • Leading risk assessments for specific discipline areas, being able to self-sufficiently plan, run and write up risk workshops. Develop reports and be able to justify and explain results within the organisation.
  • Develop safety plans and training for others in the HS2 organisation.
  • Support the HS2 project wide Hazard Record, analysing hazards, compliance evidence etc.


About You:
 

  • Demonstrable track record in engineering safety management and compliance with EU and UK law relating to engineering safety:
  • Expertise in numerical quantification of risk as part of railway safety engineering or similar;
  • Working Knowledge in HAZOP/HAZOP/RAMS analysis in a railway environment or similar;
  • University degree in Engineering or a related subject or equivalent (e.g. a chartered engineer)
  • Track record of major rail infrastructure upgrade projects (interoperable railway) or a major interoperable project;
  • Knowledge of the RSSB SRM or similar
