Overview Of Position
I am looking for a qualified Project Engineers with experience of installation of products and or systems to work for the technologically advanced pioneer of the online supermarket sector.  You will have experience delivering projects and products, you could be from a manufacturing, automotive, airports, FMCG distribution or similar field for a very exciting role as a Product Engineering Specialist.
The growth of Online Supermarket & Retail shopping in the last 10 years has been huge and this is a trend which will only continue and has even been accelerated due to the Coronavirus world pandemic.
You will be developing custom built mechanical and electrical products for brand new advanced fully automatic distribution warehouses around the world.  These warehouses are one of a kind using futuristic robotics and machine learning so you will be at the forefront of innovation and product development.

Job Role
I am looking for a qualified product engineer who takes internal engineering ownership of products from the development team or third parties where externally sourced. They carry out applications and configuration engineering of those products for the new build of automated distribution warehouses around the world. Maintaining in depth product knowledge and directly supporting other engineering teams during the design, manufacture and install phases of new fully automated distribution warehouses. Providing ongoing product support to Engineering Ops to resolve any engineering issues as well as providing valuable feedback to development team for future developments.
The product engineer specialist could be developing products to assist with conveyor systems & food handling equipment which are all part of the fully automated warehouses.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carry out the configuration and application engineering detail to Technical Design & Integration and Engineering Manufacture & Supply Chain in conjunction with the Project Realisation Engineer & planners
  • Support Automation Engineering Implementation with installation expertise, ensuring best practice is followed and understood and product engineering challenges are resolved
  • Ensure Production Engineering within Product Development have all that is required to enable them to work up solutions identified through Change Control Process
  • With outsourced and single site solutions, project manage the engineering aspects to ensure successful project delivery end to end.
  • Identify, and manage the resolution of engineering change requests and product improvements, taking full accountability and responsibility for changes on released products and be a key stakeholder for unreleased products, working closely with Technical Support colleagues
  • Review, maintain and communicate related product technical documentation (including but limited to Manuals, BoM’s, install guides, PDI & SAT checklists)
  • Provide engineering product support, especially during design, installation & commissioning phases
  • Proactively support engineering supply chain with engineering detail, including acceptance testing, and order specification
  • Work closely with our Product Development colleagues to receive new products and developments, being actively engaged during development and NPI phases to ensure successful handover of product to Central Automation Engineering team
  • Work to and follow all CDM guidance, both external (CDM Regulations 2015 and associated Guidance L153) and internal (procedures and processes, HS&E policy and associated Arrangement Policies). To seek guidance from the HS&E team where there is uncertainty
  • Ensure product and process quality is maintained
  • Ensure system integrity by collaborating with product engineers from other streams to ensure that any changes or issues in one area do not negatively impact another product or overall system.

What I’m I looking for:
Minimum:
  • Project Engineering - demonstrable experience & success, min 2 years
  • Field Installation of products and / or systems an absolute must
  • Acceptance Testing
  • Commissioning of systems
  • Deliver projects on time and within approved budgets.
  • IT literate, proficient with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite and comfortable using CAD packages.
  • Excellent technical and practical competence relating to automation and general engineering
  • Experience of projects and products in manufacturing, automotive, airports, FMCG distribution or similar field.
  • Aptitude to debate detail (both technical and commercial) with both internal and external parties
  • Commercially aware and consider cost impacts on decisions and proposals
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and appreciate the implications and requirements of relevant product safety and compliance
  • Appreciation of applicable directives, codes standards etc (eg machinery directive)
  • Technical / Engineering qualification to degree level - could be from a range of specialisations, these can include (but not limited to).
    1. Mechanical structures
    2. Plastics moulding
    3. Functional safety
    4. Conveyor systems
    5. Electromechanical systems
    6. Electrical Engineering
    7. Industrial Automation

Preferred (in addition to minimum):
  • Working knowledge of a range of project management skills, tools and approaches
  • Remote Product Support
  • International working experience

Getting to the office & Travel
Only a 20 minute commute from London King’s Cross and with a free shuttle bus provided from Hatfield Station to the office.
Please note this role does require international travel such as America, France, Canada and Japan where the new fully automated warehouses are being built.
