- Description
- Working for a major civil engineering group whose turnover is in the billions being part of an international mix of JV design partners working on a £2bn major tunnelling and civil engineering contract part of High Speed 2 phase 1 (further HS2 project details please see below).
The BIM Modeller will work in the design team to create 3D models of tunnels and civil structures in a BIM environment using Bentely products.
Duties & Responsibilties:
- Work in Design team to create 3D models of tunnels and civil structures in a BIM environment
- Produce general arrangement drawings, cross-sections, and details for detailed design in accordance with the project CAD/BIM standards and requirements.
- Responsible for meeting agreed Work with minimal supervision in defined areas of responsibility deadlines
- Direct and Supervise other technician activities as require
- Maintain overall records of shop drawings for ISO Standard and Compliance.
- Work closely with BIM Manager and BIM Coordinator
- Work closely with the engineering LOT team assisting with any CAD/BIM requirement
- A strong work ethic, team focused and an enthusiasm to learn and develop
Qualifications/Training
- Professional Education as a 2D/3D CAD / BIM / GIS Technician or higher equivalent education in the field of civil/structural engineering works
- 1 year of relevant working experience. Good technical understanding and willing to learn.
- Familiar with BIM principles and PAS1192
- Proficient in the use of Bentley AECO sim and ProjectWise to produce 2D/3D drawings and models
- Bentley Railtrack, Inroads and Power Civils (desireable not essential)
- 3D CAD Production on a Civil Engineering Project
HS2 Contract overviews- Lot S1 (Euston Tunnels and Approaches) covers the first section from Euston Station for trains leaving London. Of the first section’s 8 km, 7.3 km will be in a twin bored tunnel constructed using tunnel boring machines (TBMs), with an internal diameter of 7.65 m. £740m
- Lot S2 (Northolt Tunnels) is 16.3 km long. 13.7 km will be in a twin bored tunnel with an 8.80 m internal diameter, and the remainder will be in cut-and-cover tunnels. £1.1bn
