- One of the world’s most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies are looking for Information Managers for their Transportation Division. They are one of the UK’s leading multi-disciplinary consultancies engaged in numerous high-profile projects including High Speed 2, Managed Motorway, Highway New Build, Network Rail and LUL projects
The Transportation Division is currently seeking Information Manager for their London, Euston office to support the delivery of a wide variety of multi-disciplinary civil/rail projects across the UK.
To set the direction of the project with respect to digital information (BIM) requirements. Identifying stakeholder information needs and how those needs can be met through the project outputs, and then communicating those information requirements to the engineering and stakeholder teams. Facilitating the management of the federated model and the production of project outputs to meet those requirements.
Working with Subject Matter Experts and Technical Specialists to Identify and promote workflows and tool uses that deliver the stakeholder information needs and setting guidance to support engineering teams to assist them in adopting those workflows and tools.
The role of the Information Manager helps to set standards & processes to allow information to be delivered in a useable format for the Client. To this end they will:-
· Define employer information requirements to our best ability
· Set out the process to ensure the delivery of a structured PIM that constitute spatially coordinated volumes, progressively maturing into detailed design elements.
· Encourage the utilisation of 3D content to review, influence and improve design
· Championing BIM on the project and promote, articulate and lead BIM behaviours
· Lead, develop and coach individuals to build high performing teams and leave a legacy of talent in BIM, i.e. teams become self-reliant and do not need to rely on dedicated staff with BIM Credentials.
· Collate and report project improvements resulting from BIM use against objectives and targets
Coordinate the engagement with other projects and teams, academia, institutions and other industries in the pursuit of business excellence within the project
· Support the GIS team
· Support stakeholders & legacy; commercial & procurement and benefits.
· Support the programme of zero harm
· Support the delivery of the sustainability target
Delivering Project
In your day to day role you will be responsible for information delivery and control on various engineering and infrastructure projects that sit within your account. This may vary from major design and build commissions to a portfolio of smaller design projects. You will assess the current status of information management within your division, the skills of the people working on these project and build a network to share knowledge and implement best practice to deliver quantifiable improvements.
You will work with teams on new projects to elicit information requirements, develop processes and establish information governance to enable effective information delivery. You will also liaise with Clients within your account on all matters related to information management to help them realize the benefits of digital information management.
As skills develop across the division develop, you will support the configuration of various project information management systems and ensure continues improvement of IM processes and procedures to ensure they remain relevant and effective throughout the project lifecycle.
You will also support the development and delivery of the internal divisional Information Management strategy aiming to ensure consistent working practice across all projects. You will identify opportunities to develop new innovative solutions and build teams to investigate, testing and implement these solutions both on a project level and across the division. You will also support the senior management team in writing presentations and proposals to Clients pursuant to digital delivery service workstreams.
Support and Development
Ultimately you will be accountable for the development of information management within your account but you will also be a part of a wider support network. You will work closely with information managers working in other accounts across Civils & Rail to learn, develop and share knowledge. You will drive to break down isolated pockets of excellence and drive, motivate and inspire across the division. You will report to the Metros & Civils information management board providing quantifiable definitions of value added but also receiving support, guidance and leadership.

We'd also like to you have:
- Degree level education, ideally Member of a professional institution
- Has delivered BIM improvement actions within a major projects environment.
- Ideally with rail expertise, and preferably stations/major infrastructure although interested in any major infrastructure experience
- Proven ability to act in the best interests of a project, staying clear of local and internal commercial interests.
- Hands on and practical insight of the latest BIM (including familiarity with BS1192) and digital Information Management processes and tools.
- Stays calm and focus when under pressure in a large group.
- Ability to engage with staff at all levels, to provide learning on BIM and drive adoption of BIM process, to ensure sustainable transformation.
- Has previous experience of implementing BIM to drive project performance.
- Has an ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and retain perspective and focus on the big picture
- Pays attention to detail and sees things through to completion.
- Can deliver reports orally and written in an objective and persuasive manner.
- Has good interpersonal and communication skills and acts in an independent and professional manner with the ability to influence others including senior management.
